Motho Ke Motho Ka Batho

Join the SPSS alumni as we embark on a project to build a classroom of the future.

Welcome to the official fundraising site for Selebi Phikwe Senior School’s 50th anniversary. As the SPSS Alumni, the upcoming 50th anniversary of SPSS represents an opportunity for us to give back to our second home; a school that, beyond learning, presented us with an environment to create memories that will stay with us forever, realise our dreams, discover our true potential. Armed with a vision, and the desire to empower SPSS’s future students, we plan to raise P2.5 million, which will be presented to the school and used to build a Classroom of the Future that will prepare students for the digital age.

Our fundraising efforts, the 50th anniversary celebration, and the building of a Classroom of the Future, will all contribute to the school’s rich tapestry and significantly enhance the students’ learning experience. To make this a reality, we aim to reach people in all corners of Botswana, and encourage them to pledge and donate to our worthy cause. Together, we can give back to SPSS and the Phikwe community.

The ‘Why?’ behind our ‘What?’

Why are we looking to build a Classroom of the Future? The education landscape is changing. To prepare future generations of SPSS learners and ensure that they’re not negatively affected by the digital divide, we want to equip them with the tools and skills necessary for success in the 21st century. Here’s why we’ve identified a Classroom of the Future as a crucial step forward:

Advanced learning tools and technologies

A digital classroom will include tools and technologies such as generative AI, Virtual Reality, and adaptive learning platforms. Integrating virtual and augmented learning technologies will enhance the learning experience, making complex concepts easier to understand and more engaging. Students will be able to explore historical events, scientific phenomena, and geographical locations in an immersive, interactive way.

Fostering innovation and creativity

The Classroom of the Future will encourage innovative thinking and creativity. With access to cutting-edge technologies, students will be able to work on projects that will challenge them to think outside the box and develop problem-solving skills that are essential in the job market.

Equipping students with digital skills

As the world becomes increasingly digital, it’s crucial for students to develop strong digital literacy skills. The Classroom of the Future will provide hands-on experiences with the latest technologies, preparing students for careers in diverse fields.

Preparing for global competitiveness

In Botswana, and globally, the job market is becoming more competitive. By providing students with advanced educational resources, we will be giving them a competitive edge, helping them to excel not only locally, but on the international stage as well.

Empowering teachers with innovative tools

Teachers will have access to new resources and teaching methods, allowing them to deliver lessons in more dynamic and engaging ways. This will not only enhance student learning, but also make teaching more rewarding and impactful.

Promoting equal access to quality education

The Classroom of the Future will help break the digital divide, ensuring that all SPSS students, regardless of background, will have access to high-quality educational resources.

With all this in mind, our desire is for future students to truly realise how big and transformative an impact education has on their lives. This initiative will be more than just a celebration; it’ll be a commitment to our community and the next generation of learners.
